The Controversial Return Of Featured Listings At NiteFlirt

NiteFlirt has finally made a decision and has officially announced the phone sex platform site will be bringing back the controversial Featured Listings option for PSOs:

In preparation for the return of Featured Listings, we’ve made a change to how listings are displayed in the default sort, “Top Picks”. You’ll notice that the listings on the homepage, www.niteflirt.com, no longer rotate. This is intentional and is happening because once Featured Listings returns, you will be able to bid for position on the homepage.

We are also tweaking the LVS formula to ensure we are highlighting the best listings. Remember, LVS is made of 3 parts: Listing Presentation (or Click Rate) and Customer Value. These are not weighted equally and we are currently working on optimizing this formula so you might see more dramatic changes than normal.

Does this mean Featured Listings is returning? It sure does! We don’t have a time frame yet, but we are getting closer. Once we know when it will return we will let you all know!

Those who have been using NiteFlirt for years will remember Featured Listings from a few years back. Featured Listings will replace “Top Picks” as the default sort order for each category and the NiteFlirt home page.

Today Top Pics is based on your Listing Value Score (LVS) and your placement is based only on this score. Featured Listings will allow you to bid to have a higher placement. Your placement will then be decided by a combination of your LVS and what you bid. The stronger your LVS the less it will cost for you to have a top position.

Those of us who were with the phone sex platform site prior to the switch in 2009 (when NF split from Keen) will likely recall how important this feature is; it’s how most of us were able to get our start. But some PSOs have been concocting all sorts of drama, telling stories and perpetuating myths of the woes poor PSOs have suffered at the hands of Featured Listings, just plain bitching, since the announcement. In fact, some of these PSOs have been campaigning against the return of Featured Listings ever since the service was aborted in 2009.

Why?

Greed.

Those who have currently been enjoying the benefits of an improperly functioning LVS system know they have been rather permanently featured on the home page and at the top of phone sex categories — and they don’t want to give it up. Being featured at the top of listings and on the home page can bring you more customers — something which can positively affect a working LVS and therefore keep you featured. The cycle continues. LVS working properly or not.

I understand it’s a loss for some. I know because some of my phone sex listings benefit, while others suffer for it. But I enthusiastically welcome the return of Featured Listings.

Here are the facts behind the controversy and complaints, bitching and whining, about Featured Listings.

“That’s not fair! I earned my spot!” Let’s be honest, ladies, the way LVS has been working (or, truthfully, not working) some of you’ve been given the gift of rather permanent prominent placement at the site and earned money because of it. Even with a more perfect LVS system, those of you who truly have earned top positioning won’t be penalized by Featured Listings — because the higher your LVS, the less you will have to bid to keep that top spot.

Conversely, those PSOs who do not provide stellar services will have to pay more and more to compensate for their bad services. Most of them will be forced to stop spending (at least until they improve their phone sex game) or even quit.

The cream will still rise to the top.

Unless you fear healthy competition, there’s nothing to fear here. (And if you fear competition, running your own business isn’t for you, period.)

“Girls accidentally spent hundreds/thousands of dollars!” A PSO can’t accidentally spend too much money. She sets not only the bidding amount in terms of how much she is willing to spend per click, but also how much she is willing to spend in total for the Featured Listing campaign. And she must have the funds in her NiteFlirt account. Plus, she can stop or pause her Featured Listing at any time.

Are there women who might make a mistake in judgement and overbid or invest too much? Sure. There’s a percentage of that happening anywhere, anytime. But that’s an error in ROI calculation; not an accidental keystroke error or some sort of flaw in the Featured Listing system designed to rip off PSOs.

“It’s not fair! Why is NF charging us when they already take a cut?!” Featured Listings are an additional service, an advertising or promotional service. The usual “cut” is the fee for using the phone sex platform service. Just as you are not charged when you are not using the NF platform services, you will not be charged for not using Featured Listings. You have the choice of whether or not you use and pay for the services.

“NF should be working on the glitches first!” All the complaints about NF since the transition three years ago, from technical issues with call connections, dropped calls, and an improperly working message system, to the shrinking online presence of the site itself, can be addressed with additional funding. I can only imagine (and dream) of the money NF has made off of Featured Listings in the past — and has lost these past few years without it. The addition of this profit is a good thing. When NF has more revenue, it can better address those issues. Think long-term, people.

“It’s not fair! Why can’t we all just continue to be rotated on the main page?” Anyone who believes in the power of randomly rotating ads on the front page of a site like NiteFlirt is either incredibly ignorant or incredibly insane. Maybe both.

There are thousands and thousands of PSO listings at NiteFlirt. At any given time, hundreds if not thousands of phone sex lines at NF are actively taking calls; but only eight listings are shown at a time on the main page. In a random display, those eight listings are reshuffled every time the page is loaded or refreshed.

Fans of the random display of listings are financially counting on the slim-to-none chance that a perfectly-matched potential caller is landing on the main page at the precise random moment her listing is showing — and that he will click and call asap. The odds of that are fantastically tiny. And, in a random rotating shuffle like that, when he hits “back” on his browser to see about another girl who might have struck his fancy, her listing is no longer there to be seen.

Ask yourself: How long will you have to wait to randomly appear on the home page? How long until your listing appears again? How many potential callers did you miss because they visited the home page a random second too early or too late?

It’s insane to count on rotating home page placement as a means to build your business. You might was well write your NF phone number on falling tree leaves and hope they blow towards a guy looking to pay for phone sex. Random is never a good business model.

The bottom line is that Featured Listings work for everyone.
