Setting Up Shop As An Independent PSO

OK, so you’ve decided to go ahead and become an independent phone sex operator. You’ve got your tech stuff (phone line &/or number, billing, etc.) settled, now what?

First you’ll need to select your niche or specialty. It doesn’t mean you have to be a one-tick phone pony, but, as discussed, it’s very difficult to market yourself as “everything for everyone” in this business especially.

Second, you’ll need to create your character name. Your name should reflect your character’s personality and suggest your market niche. In all but a few cases, a traditional given name (i.e. Jane) is more optimal than a user ID (i.e. CarnalDelights). In some niches, monikers are put in front of this name; i.e. Teen Jane, Princess Jane, Mistress Jane, etc. Use of a “real” or traditional given name not only seems more natural and therefore assists the willing suspension of disbelief, but gives callers an idea of how to address you — making first time calls much less awkward.

Third, you’ll need to put it all together into a description or profile. If you’re an affiliated PSO, this space may be limited to a short paragraph. If you’re using a phone sex platform such as Nite Flirt, Talk Sugar (closed in 2013) or My Phone Site, you’ll have a member profile or home page, as well as individual pages for each of your phone line listings. If you’re completely independent, you’ll need to create your own website. And, if you’re smart, whatever space is provided for you by your parent company or service platform, you will also create your own website (or blog) to market yourself.

You’ll want to use your character’s profile page and/or blog or website “about” page rather like a profile page at a dating site in the sense that you’ll want to put your best foot forward and attract your Mr. Rights — while ruling out those Mr. Wrongs who won’t be satisfied with your services, won’t pay your rate, or otherwise won’t be good matches.

This act of creating your character in words is arguably the most important part of your success as a PSO. Your page is key to receiving calls — without the calls coming in you’ll never get the chance to blow their minds with your sexy phone sex skills and claim regular callers. Even poor phone sex operators can make some money with a great profile by luring in new one-time only callers. So it’s not wise to slack at creating your online profile.
