Phone Sex News You Can Bank On

While I was away, My Phone Site activated their new MPS Bank:

From any control panel (web owner, operator, group owner, and affiliate) you will see a new icon “MPS Bank”.  When you click on it you will be asked to register for an MPS Bank account or login if you currently have an account.  From the control panel of your MPS Bank account you will be able to add every single account you have on our network.

Example:  You have 3 websites, 1 affiliate account, and you also work 5 operators on other websites.  You will be able to add all of those accounts and all stats will be loaded into your MPS Bank.  From then on whenever you log into your MPS Bank you will be able to see your balance on every account.  You will even be able to move money around from web owner to operator, affiliate, etc.  The best part is that you can make 1 withdrawal request and cash out ALL accounts.  This will make tracking the payout much easier..

FEATURES:
1.  Add all accounts into one MPS Bank control panel.
2.  Easily add new accounts as you create them; new website, operator accounts, etc.
3.  One-Click cash out option for ALL accounts.
4.  Receive LIVE status update on your withdrawal.
5.  Review all past withdrawals by week, month, 3 months, 6 months, and year.  Easy export for accounting.
6.  Access the MPS Bank from any section of MPS.

MPS has always paid well (both timely and accurately), but this new system is especially fantastic for those PSOs (and webmasters) who take advantage of the affiliate program, run websites which take a percentage of other girls’ calls, and/or who have multiple characters because now there’s no need to wait for each account to hit the minimum payout.

The process as described sounded a little intimidating, but it was as easy as pie.

Being An Independent PSO Is Like Running Your Own Entertainment Studio

Today there will be a taping of an Anderson Cooper show — the daytime one, not on CNN — in which phone sex work will again be discussed. I am privy to this knowledge as I was in talks with a show producer to be on the show; but declined as anonymity, so important to me, really couldn’t be arranged.

In talking with the producer, and the other producers of the media I have been involved with of late, one subject continues to come up which fascinates the producers: How being an independent PSO is like being the sole proprietor of a one-woman studio.

As I’ve said before, phone sex operators are more than actresses or even improv performers. We are writers, directors, editors, audio and visual/graphics departments, and anything else required to produce entertainment. More than that, we are also office staff, managing the mail; accountants, managing the money; marketing and advertising departments, bringing in the clients; and the sales force, closing the deals. All before we even take our calls. And, of course, we are then managers going over the books, interpreting the data, deducing which expenditures were worthy, which were not, and continually adjusting efforts for maximum rewards. We might also be making money in other ways, maximizing our websites by selling ad space, making money in affiliate sales, reviewing products, etc. We are small business owners, managing and wearing all the hats — if only to purchase/find what we need.

And we participate in continuing education in our field too.

As exhausting as that sounds, those of us successful in this business enjoy designing our businesses from the ground up, with nothing but our ideas and talents to invest and make the home based business grow. We are rewarded financially. We can set our own schedules around our other obligations and interests. We even have the nearly instant gratification of knowing that we please and satisfy each client we serve. And, in most cases, the financial rewards are also (nearly) another form of instant gratification, with payments just days away.

Phone Sex Availability

What hours/days of the week are the best to make money during?
How many hours must I devote to my phone sex business?
I’m starting this part-time and my schedule is unpredictable, can I still make money?
Do I have to keep my phone line on for hours? Can I only be available by appointment?

I’m asked a lot about the hours a phone sex operator needs to work. So much so, I’m covering this again. But hopefully covering your questions more specifically…

The truth is, there’s no magic time of the day nor number of hours you must work to be successful. While “success” is a relative term, a PSO can make money any time of day or night, on any days of the week, with full-time or part-time hours. The trick is to know your market, your clients, to serve them well in whatever hours you have, and to properly promote and market yourself when you aren’t working directly with clients.

Without overly complicating this post, let’s look at the joint parts of the above statement.

To begin with, you ought to know your own schedule in terms of what time you have — both in terms of performing phone sex itself and in terms of time to promote your phone sex work.

Knowing the hours you have available for actual phone sex calls is important to focus on right from the start as this helps you identify the types of callers you would be appealing to in general. Some times of day (or night) and days of the week are more conducive to specific markets (types of callers), so it’s important to consider these realities first. Otherwise, you are just making things more difficult (labor intensive) for yourself and frustrating for your callers.

[Knowing your client base and target market is something you can — and ought to — use in your marketing, as well. It’s important in everything from posting hours of availability, best times for communication/email response, advertising, to your phone sex listing or description.]

When it comes to best serving your clients (and in turning potential clients into clients), it is best to communicate general hours of availability. In terms of times for calls themselves, as well as in terms of your availability to receive and respond to messages.

Regarding your general communication availability…. If you’ll be around to check messages daily, or multiple times a day, notices in your listings, at your blog, etc., is not so important. But if you won’t be checking messages over weekends, for example, it’s a simple courtesy to let them know that they need not worry if they do not hear from you until Monday. Trust me, letting your regular know of trips and vacation times in advance is not merely a courtesy for clients, but saves you a whole lot of work upon your return. *wink*

Now for the matter of hours of availability on the phone… Phone lines on/open for blocks of time or “by appointment only” is mainly a personal choice of business model or “style,” but there are some generalities.

Yes, you can have a profitable independent phone sex business based on scheduled appointments only.  These types of businesses tend to fall into two specific categories: phone sex operators with an established client base (i.e. for experienced PSOs) and/or those phone sex operators who cater to a more exclusive clientele (i.e. not the impulsive quick wank-off crowd). In both of these cases, however, there’s generally a regular set time (weekly, monthly) in which the PSO does “just have her phone line on,” her chat window open, is logged into the phone sex platform site, or is otherwise available to more spontaneous live contact with current clients and potential new clients.

Most PSOs, from stable full-time schedules to scattered and unpredictable very part-time hours, will have periods of time in which they are available to anyone who calls. This is especially true of new phone sex operators who have to start somewhere to get clients, even if they are hoping to use the “by appointment only” model.

Having the phone lines on and “just” waiting for calls is typically a large part of the business. While this can be unsettling, PSOs typically blog and work other aspects of their business. For many, this is not only a practical use of time, but it helps them stay in character.

Phone Sex Service Platforms For The Work From Home Independent PSO

One of the easiest ways to become an independent work at home phone sex operator is to use a platform company — a company that provides the technological backbone in terms of verifying adult callers, performing the billing, connecting the calls, and disbursing fees to the PSO. These service platform companies are like eBay or PayPal; they offer the transaction technology for a slice of the action.

The average slice they take is roughly 30%.

Some will be aghast at such a large cut in each transaction, but with phone sex platforms you have the following benefits:

* No start up costs.

* A web presence along with a telephone number.

* Built-in customer base and expected growth due to their marketing efforts.

* The platform’s established presence and reputation translates to greater client trust in entering their billing information.

* A network of other PSOs for support.

* Work your own hours, whenever you want, from wherever you choose

The two main phone sex service platforms are Nite Flirt and Talk Sugar (closed in 2013). Primarily, they both do the same thing, but there are a few differences:

* Nite Flirt is a US company and Talk Sugar is Canadian, which in this economy and the current state of the US dollar, likely means more to Canadian PSOs than it once did.

* Nite Flirt is the more established company; however, since it sold off Keen (the non-adult version of the site which was purchased by AT&T) there’s been new ownership — and the required transition from the proprietary technology beneath it hasn’t gone as smoothly as anyone would like. However, the new company is responsive to PSO issues via their forum and I can attest to the reliability of payments etc.

* Nite Flirt was the only platform with the option for direct deposit of funds into your bank account (electronic payments via Automated Clearing House or ACH), as well as paper checks mailed to you. However, Talk Sugar has just began direct deposit and wire options. Now the real difference is that Talk Sugar’s minimum is $50; Nite Flirt’s is $10.

* Perhaps the biggest difference between the phone sex platforms is the fact that Talk Sugar limits the number of characters you can have. When you’re just starting out, one is likely as much as you can handle, but, whether you have plans to expand now or not, you should know the imitations going in.

Like eBay and PayPal, both Talk Sugar and Nite Flirt have terms of service (TOS) which are nonnegotiable. You don’t always have to agree with them or follow their reason’s why, but you do have to follow them.

If/when you try to test them, you will be “kicked off” the service and you have very little recourse to return or even receive any outstanding funds owed to you. It is primarily the folks who test the system and get caught who create “I hate” sites about these phone sex platforms or otherwise devote a great deal of time badmouthing them on the web (and, presumably, elsewhere). I won’t go so far as to say no one has ever been booted from either site for “unfair” or ambiguous reasons; but like eBay and PayPal — who both have their loud detractors, the majority of us manage to follow the rules and get along just fine.

If you have any questions or concerns about the policies and rules, both sites have forums for their PSOs. Use them.

And remember, if you were completely independent, you’d have to follow the TOS of your merchant account or billing service and any other service you used or contracted with. Rules are, in fact, everywhere.

Over all, phone sex service platforms are the easiest way to be an independent phone sex operator.

The Benefits Of Being A Phone Sex Operator

I’ve been doing a lot of talking about how much work is involved in being a phone sex pro, so I thought I should mention some of the real benefits.

No experience, education or certification is required. You need only to be able to provide valid proof that you are an adult of legal age to work in the adult industry, and, generally with the same documents that prove your age, provide “Right to Work” documents in the U.S.

You can work from home. There’s no dress code, no annoying coworkers, none of the hassles of a commute. (Even when you work on location, there’s no expense in a work wardrobe etc.)

No upfront fees or heavy expenses. All you really need is a telephone line (a traditional landline, a cell phone, or voice over IP) to start; other investment in your business (headphones, books, website, etc.) can be added overtime as you generate your income.

Flexible hours. Many so-called phone sex “how to” articles may suggest the best hours are at night, but nearly any hours can be profitable (for some niches, daytime hours are actually best), so you can easily and profitably fit your phone sex work around your own schedule.

Safety. There is no in-person interaction. And as long as you abide by the rules and never disclose your name, phone number, or share any other personal information which could lead to discovery of your identity, you remain anonymous.

Fantasy. Unlike other adult entertainment gigs, there are no standards of beauty, no ageism, no limits to the fantasy person you’d like to be; you are free to enjoy your character and your calls too.
